Note that Chrome doesn't honor the notification icon on Linux, due to this bug. On your Mac, use Notifications System Preferences to specify when you don’t want to be disturbed by notifications, and to control how apps show notifications in Notification Center. Explain to the user first why they would want notifications and see other push notifications patterns. As a best practice, don't ask for this permission right off the bat. Open Microsoft Edge and click on the three dots from top right corner. W3C notifications work in many browsers (see support on caniuse), and require user permission.

Apparently, Google's opinion is that if you use its search engine, you should be using its browser, too, because the following notification appears every single time you visit Google's home page in a browser that isn't Chrome:Ĭlicking "NO THANKS" won't save you. Google really, really wants you to make Chrome your default browser.
